  How it Works:  

1. Test if any key is pressed down by applying power to the rows (set them to a high level).
2. Set all rows (R1-R2) to low and check the status of the columns. A low column indicates a pressed key among the 4 keys of that column.
3. If all columns are high, it means no key is pressed.
4. To locate the key, set the rows to low in turns until a key is identified. The row tested low indicates the pressed key's row.
5. Check the status of each column to find the intersecting key.
