The KY-039 Finger Detection Heartbeat Measuring Sensor Module is designed to detect the pulse of a finger using an infrared (IR) LED and a phototransistor. Here are the key features and specifications:
Features:
- Uses a bright infrared (IR) LED and a phototransistor to detect the pulse of the finger.
- A red LED flashes with each pulse, providing a visual indication.
- Combines a phototransistor and IR LED to provide a varying signal when a finger is placed between them.
- Ideal for adding heartbeat sensing to your project.
- Suitable for use with microcontrollers such as Arduino boards and Raspberry Pi.
- Small and compact module with M2 mounting holes for easy attachment.
Specifications:
- Module Size: 16 x 19 x 6mm (l x w x h)
- Input Voltage: 3 – 5V DC
- Weight: 2 grams
- KY-039 Keyes Module
Working Principle:
- The LED emits light through the finger, and the phototransistor on the other side detects the light that passes through.
- When the blood pressure pulse causes changes in the finger's resistance, the phototransistor's resistance also changes.
- This change in resistance is detected as a varying signal, which can be interpreted as a heartbeat.
Package Includes:
- 1 x KY-039 Finger Detection Heartbeat Measuring Sensor Module
Note: Experimentation may be required to select the optimal resistor for R1 to achieve the best results, as the resistance affects the sensitivity of the phototransistor. Stray light should be minimized to reduce noise in the signal.
